Mrs. Anna Anthony died this morning at 9 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. William Mess, 1328 West Fourth street, Davenport. Her death terminated a lingering illness.
Born at Holstein, Ditmarschen, Germany, Jan. 10, 1845, Mrs. Anthony came to America and directly to Davenport in 1868, where she was united in marriage to John C. Anthony one year later. The couple resided in East Davenport until 1919, when the death of her husband occurred. She had since made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Mess, who survives with three other daughters, Mrs. William Buhman, Mrs. Robert Pearce, of Davenport; and Mrs. John Spies of Argo, Ia.; five sons, Henry and Fred of Wichita, Kas., John C. of Lynn county, Ia., Harry of Fall River, Mass., and William of Scott county, one brother, Fritz Martens of Mason City, Ia., 24 grand children and nine great grandchildren.
