Joseph retired from the US Army and US Air Force serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He completed his working career by retiring as a manager from NAPA Warehouse in Mechanicsburg. Joseph was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and Sacristan. He was a member and 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, St. Joseph's Council 12788 and Bishop Shanahan Assembly in Harrisburg, the SERRA Club, the NRA and served as an auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary.
Joseph enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, remote control cars and was an avid technophile, liking to keep abreast of computer trends and modern gadgetry. However, Joseph's greatest enjoyment came from helping those in need, especially children. He was a beloved friend and mentor, and a true gentleman very much devoted to his church.
Joseph was preceded in death by his wife Margaret A. (MacLennan) Sisto, two children Joseph Sisto III, Susan A. Maber and by a sister Ann Meisko. Surviving is a daughter Nicole M. Majeed of Iowa, a sister Marie Trybus, his extended family the Hodgson family, 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mechanicsburg. Entombment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday in Malpezzi Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church or to the Knights of Columbus Council 12788 both located at P.O. Box 2012, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.
