Dorothea and William had 6 children: Anna, Dorothea (Dora), Mary, Edward Wilhelm (William), Elizabeth (Lizzie), and Emma. Dorothea's father, Christian Schenk, died in Germany in June 1868. Her mother, Marie (or Catherine) Meyer-Schenk, came to America later that fall and possibly lived in Reedsburg or Loganville area, Sauk Co., Wisconsin with a daughter, her burial location is not confirmed. Dorothea may have had a sister named Sophia Neuman.
