Motion Picture Cinematographer. He was an award-winning cinematographer whose career spanned from the 1920s to the 1960s, achieving his greatest success at 20th Century-Fox. He was nominated for Academy Awards an amazing eighteen times, sharing the record with fellow cinematographer Charles Lang. He won four Best Cinematography Oscars for his influential work on "The Black Swan" (1942), "Wilson" (1944), "Leave Her to Heaven" (1945), and "Cleopatra" (1963). He is one of only six cinematographers to have a star on the famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. Married to actress Mary Anderson.
