He is recognized in character roles, playing in credited roles as an unnamed poker player, pastor, salesman, or policeman and, at times, uncredited roles. After graduating from high school, he attended Los Angeles College before appearing on stage and starting his acting career. His recognition in film roles was in "The Day that Mars Invaded Earth" in 1962 and "The Ballard of Cable Hauge" in 1970. In television roles, he appeared in numerous one-or-two-episode guest roles but appeared in three episodes of "Have Gun Will Travel," "Quincy MD," "The Virginian," and "Petticoat Junction"; four episodes of "Beverly Hillbillies" and "Bonanza"; five episodes of "Wagon Train"; and six episodes of "The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp." He is credited with 127 roles in film and television. He was married to his wife for 36 years, and the couple had one son.
