Rites for Mrs. Susie Ashburn Last Thursday
Funeral rites for Mrs. Susie Ashburn were conducted at the Farris Funeral Home. Thursday morning, August 30, at 10:30 o'clock, with Sherman Kirkpatrick, minister of the First Christian Church in charge, Mrs. Lutie Livingston, accompanied by Mrs. C.T. Jackson, organist, sang "The Lord's Prayer" and "The Old Rugged Cross". Pallbearers were: Ray Cole, A.J. Highberger, Greg Lickteig, L.C. Page, Fred Curtiss and Floyd Bell. Interment was in the Garnett Cemetery.
Susie Lutz was born in Anderson County, Kansas, July 5, 1898, the daughter of Jacob and Laura Lutz. She was united in marriage to Jesse C. Ashburn in June 1915. To this union were born two children. Her husband and the first child, in infancy, preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing, one daughter, Mrs. Charles Curtiss of Burlington, Kan.; two grandchildren Carol Sue and Larry Curtiss; two half-brothers, John and Lewis Lutz of Westphalia, Kan.; one half-sister, Mrs. Eva Martino, Glendale, Calif.; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
