The family will be receiving friends at 4 today at John M. Ireland Funeral Home in Moore.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Kingfisher Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of John M. Ireland Funeral Home of Moore.

She and her twin brother were born July 6, 1918, in Chino, Calif. She was the daughter of Henry Mellinger Brandt and Emma Pomeroy Brandt.

They moved back to Bethany, Kan., in the spring of 1919 to pastor a Free Methodist Church. She graduated from high school in 1937 in Scranton, Kan.

She was married to John Robert Smith of Kingfisher in the spring of 1942, in Manhattan, Kan., by her father, the Rev. Henry Brandt. They made their home in the Oklahoma City area.

They were involved in activities of non-denominational churches. She was also an Eastern Star. She was involved in music ministry, playing both the organ and piano. She was an avid gardener and a professional seamstress. Her husband preceded her in death in May 1963.

She married William Benjamin (Ben) Hood on Oct. 21, 1966, and they moved from War Acres to Chandler in 1967 and on to southeastern Oklahoma in 1974. She had resided in nursing homes since 1966 and the past five years she had been in Tuttle Care Center. Her husband preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 2005.

Survivors include her twin brother, Eldon; her four children; 13 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her husband, Ben; two sisters; four brothers; one great-granddaughter, and one great-grandson.
