Kinch R. Mathis, 88, well known citizen of Wardell, died at his home there Sunday, November 8 and funeral services were held the following Tuesday afternoon at the Wardell Baptist Church, the Rev. Earl Selby conducted the service.
Mr. Mathis was born Februay 7, 1865, at Waverly, Tenn., but had lived in Wardell for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lillie Mathis of Wardell; five sons, Virgil, John B., and Jewell Mathis of Wardell, Floyd of Hayti and Harry Mathis of Scopus, Mo.; three daughters, Mrs. Hattie Barger of Farmington, Mrs. Nora Holland of California and Mrs. Minnie Harms of Wardell; one step-son, Clarence Godair of California; 41 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Burial was in Mound Cemetery, Wardell, with Jimmy Osburn Funeral Home service.
