Hazel Margaret Siebert Roemhildt was born on the family farm on June 19, 1916. Hazel was the last of 10 children to Frederick and Sophie Siebert at Cordova Township in LeSueur County, Minnesota. She attended District 69 School until the 7th grade when she moved on to Cleveland Consolidated. Hazel graduated in 1933. She worked at Hardegger's Resort until enrolling in teacher training school in St. Peter. She taught at the Okman School, a one-room school in Elysian until her marriage to Ervin Roemhildt of Elysian in 1938. From Elysian Township, they moved to Waseca around 1945. She and Ervin raised 8 children. Hazel worked at Bird's Eye for 22 years and also volunteered at the Waseca Neighborhood Service Center. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School, and served as quilting advisor for many years.
