Elizabeth R "Betty" Hyde, 97, of Linwood, passed away peacefully Tuesday at Shore Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at the Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. Burial will be held at Seaside Cemetery, Marmora, New Jersey.
HYDE, ELIZABETH R. "BETTY" 97 - of Linwood, died peacefully October 26, 1910 at Shore Memorial Hospital. She was born in Philadelphia, November 6, 1912 to Susie and Walter Carhart. Betty moved to the area as a child attending St. Peters Grammar School and Holy Spirit High School. Betty worked as office manager and bookkeeper at the Seaside, Shelburne and President Hotels and various businesses in Atlantic City. Betty was predeceased by brothers Joseph and Walter Carhart, sister Mary Laigaie, and sons, Jack Newman of Marmora and Bill of Seattle, WA. She is survived by children, Edward N. (Anna), Susanne W. (Andy), both of Northfield, Walter N. of Florida, brother Reverend Jack C. of Medford, NJ; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Betty raised her five children in a Catholic environment during difficult times and always made Christmas a most special occasion. She had a special place in her heart for grandson Leo. Services will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 2:30 PM at the Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. A visitation will be held on Saturday from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Seaside Cemetery, Marmora, NJ.
