Obituary for Betty Hergenreder
Betty Joe Hergenreder, a lifelong resident of Longmont, died at the Peaks Care Center September 28, 2014 at the age of 92.
Betty Joe was born on October 21, 1921 in Longmont to Frank and Eula Maulsey (Holder) Morris. She graduated from Longmont High School that at that time was on Main Street. Betty Joe was proud of her Native American heritage. Her mother was part Chickasaw and her father Cherokee. Betty Joe became a member of the Chickasaw tribe in Ada, Oklahoma in 1983.
On February 10, 1961, Betty Joe married the love of her life- Adam Hergenreder. Adam died in 1987 just three days short of their 26th anniversary. Betty worked at Woolworths, Hav-A-Snak, BiRite Drugstore, Longmont Drug, and at the Del Camino Truck stop. She volunteered for a number of years at the OUR Center.
Betty Joe joined the Columbine Chapter #11, Order of Eastern Star when she was 20 and was a member for over 72 years. She also joined the First United Methodist Church while still a youngster and was a member for 58 years.
Betty Joe was preceded in death by her husband Adam; her parents; two brothers: Paul and Bob Morris and a sister Ruth Charlotte Morris. She is survived by some nieces and nephews and a number of close friends.
A service to celebrate Betty Joe's life will be held at the Heart of Longmont at First United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 3, 2014. Burial will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
