He was at one time a merchant in East Thetford but before marriage he took the home farm in Thetford and on marrying brought his wife to live with his father and step-mother. He was an insurance agent for many years and also justice of the peace. He was a quiet and unassuming, devoted to his family and respected in town for his good judgment.
