Funeral services for Enos Guy MAHAN, 87, a long time resident of Northwestern Colorado were held Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1971 at the Root Mortuary in Steamboat Springs with the Reverend Deb GOLIKE officiating.

Mr. MAHAN died in the Memorial Hospital in Craig Friday Oct. 15, 1971 after residing in Valley View Manor for the past year.

He was born August 19, 1884 in Russell, Iowa, a son of William F. and Ida May MAHAN. A twin brother died in infancy. At the age of two his family migrated west in a covered wagon settling in Arnold, Nebraska. The family later moved to Gothenburg, Nebraska, where he grew to manhood.

He attended an electrician trade school and was employed at a power plant in Gothenburg for many years.

On March 10, 1909 he was united in marriage to Jessie May VAN TRUMP at Gothenburg. Shortly after their marriage the couple moved to Stoneham, Colorado to homestead and remained there until 1936 when he moved his family to the Steamboat Springs area.

He owned a farm about two miles west of Steamboat and continued to actively farm until the age of 75.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Ray of Lawson, Missouri and two daughters, Edit YOUNG of Avenal, California and Eva KLINE of Morrison, Colorado, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three step grandchildren, and five step-great-grandchildren, two brothers, Dr. Glen MAHAN of Gothenburg and Arthur MAHAN of Bridgeport, Nebraska, nine nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to raising his own family, Mr. and Mrs. MAHAN raised a granddaughter, Bonnie Jean COX who now makes her home in Craig.

One son died in infancy and a sister, Jessie GLENN of Gothenburg , preceded him in death by two months.

Interment was in the Steamboat Cemetery under the direction of Root Mortuary.

Pallbearers were Sam McBRIDE, Tom DUCKELS, John CALKINS, Les SCOGGINS, Don OVERMEYER, and Cecil ROREX. Honorary pallbearers included Clarence LIGHT, Hubert YOUNG, Ralph GUIRE, George WOODS, Joe JANECK, Ray MUIRHEAD, Ben EHLE, Lloyd W. WHITECOTTON, and Robert WHITCOTTON.
