Lion Hunter Drowns in Rain-Swollen River
Funeral arrangements were pending at Bring's Funeral Home today for a well-known Arizona big-game hunter whose body was found in the rain-swollen San Pedro River about 40 miles northeast of here yesterday.
Bee Adkins, 48, of Benson, drowned in the river Tuesday night when he waded out to determine the depth at Redington Road Crossing.
Floyd Bingham, a rancher in the area, located Adkins' body six miles downstream yesterday. Pima County sheriff's deputies and ranch hands in the area had been searching for Adkins since he disappeared into the river.
Adkins' body was brought out of the rugged area by truck last night.
The noted lion hunter was employed on the O. R. Parker ranch. He had participated in many hunting expeditions into Mexico and had worked as a government trapper.
Survivor's include his wife, Viola, a son and two daughters.
