PAUL E.WEBB

Paul E. Webb, Fire Chief of Avondale, Missouri, answered the final call on August 23, 2010, his 80th birthday. Paul was born on August 23, 1930, to Woodson Lee and Mary Leona (Sevage) Webb in Linden, Missouri. He married Wayme Weeks on March 31, 1951. They made their home in Avondale, Missouri, and dedicated their lives to the community.

Paul was one of the founders of the Avondale Volunteer Fire Department in 1958, and served for 52 years. He volunteered as Avondale Fire Chief, Mayor, Councilman, and Police Officer. He served as a member of the Civil Defense, and was active in The Independence 76 Fire Company. He was a little league baseball coach, Boy Scout leader, and mentor to many young people who have become leaders in their communities. Above all else, the most important thing to him was his family. He was employed by General Supply and Leasing Company for 34 years. He also worked for Iowa Mold and Tool, Fontaine Truck Equipment, and KC Freightliner, before retiring at age 75.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Wayme; his parents; two sisters; and two brothers. He is survived by three children, Edward L. Webb (Kerry), Richard A. Webb (Julie), and Roxanna McClure (Michael). He was blessed with three grandchildren, Lee E. Webb (Angela); Brandi J. Webb; and Emily A. McClure; one great-grandson, Austin R. Webb, and a great-granddaughter, Madison G. Webb (to be born in December); a sister, Lula Fern Barber; two brothers, Sid Webb and Johnny Webb; a very large extended family, and countless friends. He was an extraordinary man, husband, and father. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at White Chapel, 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, also at White Chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Avondale Memorial Fund in Paul's name.
