Poppa was precede in death by his wife Myrtie who was lovingly called "Notta Momma" which was short for another momma by her grand children and great grandchildren. Poppa was survived by his three children Theodore, Audra and Esther. He is also survived by his large family of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Papa was much loved by his family and in his later years his daughter Esther cared for him.
