Harris Edward Floyd

BRUNSWICK -- Harris Edward Floyd, 77, of Brunswick, died Friday, June 18, 2004, at his home.

A native of Liberty County, Mr. Floyd served in the Merchant Marines. He had made his home in Brunswick for more than 50 years. Mr. Floyd retired from Georgia Power Plant McManus in 1988 with 37 years of service. He was a member of Taylors United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Virginia Powell Floyd of Brunswick; a son, Don Floyd of Atlanta; a daughter, Ann Floyd Cason (Tommy) of St. Simons Island; three brothers, Mitzger Floyd of Rome, Charles Floyd (Mildred) of White Springs, Fla., and Carroll Floyd (Marion) of Savannah; a sister, Betty Stone (Don) of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandchildren, Kelli Cason Freeman (Eric) of Statesboro and Thomas Michael Cason Jr. of St. Simons Island; a brother-in-law, William Powell of Andalusia, Ala.; a sister-in-law, Robbie Nell Powell Sadler of Moultrie; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Moore officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Westview Cemetery in Moultrie.

Honorary pallbearers will be Don Bankston, David Owens, Billy Wray, Ellis Drury, Bobby Lipthratt, Leland Moore and Mike Bowen.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 21, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Ed Miller and Sons Funeral Home of Brunswick is in charge of arrangements.
