Before her marriage, my mother was asked to cook a chicken dinner by Mr. Peckam, a wealthy contributor from Chicago, who was devoting time to the Penn Craft Project. He waited for my mother the next day to tell her that was the BEST chicken dinner he ever had and it was her FIRST chicken dinner she ever made. That statement would lead her to do everything with perfection.
Time was always of the essence, not to go watch television, but what else needed to be done. Don't do anything half assed, do it the right way were her motto.
