Jennie Cox Persons Rees
Jennie Cox Persons Rees of 6950 So. Delaware, Littleton, formerly of Longmont, died on Saturday, Feb. 8, 1992, at Cherry Park Nursing Home of Englewood. She was 95.
Born on Oct. 28, 1896, in Gainesville, Texas, she was the daughter of Richard C. Cox and Mary Catherine Garner Cox. In 1913, at the age of 16, she came to Longmont in a covered wagon from Oklahoma with her family.
On July 19, 1915, in Boulder, she and Phillip Otis Persons were married. Mr. Persons preceded his wife in death on Feb. 11, 1943. She and John Voil Rees were married on May 8, 1949. He also preceded her in death on Aug. 20, 1957.
Mrs. Rees worked for Kuner-Empson Canning Co., Great Western Sugar Factory, Woolworth and Mode-O-Day.
She was a member of the Silver Spruce Rebekah Lodge no. 16 of Longmont. Mrs. Rees enjoyed crocheting and gardening. She was of the Protestant faith.
She also was preceded in death by four sisters, Ivory Reed, Betsey Newton, Dixie McKay Buckles and Sally Winder.
Mrs. Rees is survived by one son, the Rev. William Richard Persons and wife, Mildred, of Englewood; five grandchildren, Diana Wright of Houston, Margaret Beach and husband, Gary, of Cheyenne, Wyo., William B. Persons of Loveland, Judith Faulder and husband, David, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Mark D. Persons and wife, Cathy, of Englewood; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Howe Mortuary.
A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at Howe Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Donald J. Grooters, retired, of First United Methodist Church officiating. Committal services will be officiated by the Rebekah Silver Spruce Lodge No. 16 of Longmont.
Burial will be in Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.
