Funeral services for Mrs. Luther P. (Laura Jane) Wingfield, 83, who died Friday in a local hospital, will be conducted a 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 9 in the Martin Funeral Chapel with Elder Afton Richard of Ralls, Texas, officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Wingfield was born June 17, 1885 in Magazine, Ark. She married Luther P. Wingfield on Dec 25, 1904, in Magazine and they came to this area in 1931 and settled on a farm in the Merritt community. Mr. Wingfield preceded her in death on July 30, 1965. She was a longtime member of the Elk Creek Primitive Baptist church.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Mrs Ora Yow, Mrs Ellar Mikles, and Mrs. Lillian Wann, all of Elk City; 2 sons, Floyd, Midwest City, and J. B. of Amarillo, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, and 1 sister, Mrs Emma Starling, Magazine, Arkansas.
