"Henry Allen Kent was born in Plain City, Union County, Ohio on April 3, 1867, and died in Torrance, California on June 13, 1933. He was the oldest son of Philo and Margaret Kent and came to Kansas with his parents in 1869.
After a year spent in Wilson County they came to Cowley and took a claim southwest of Winfield. The region then was a vast prairie and a little patch broken up for a garden. The Indians had not yet completely surrendered the region to the "pale face". Here he grew to manhood.
In 1892 he was united in marriage to Lula A. Hamlin. To this union two children were born. One a daughter preceded him in death in 1904, and a son, Earl Philo Kent, now lives in California. He is survived by his wife, son, Earl, a daughter-in-law; and Mrs. Alice of Winfield, brother W.P. Kent of Winfield, a number of other relatives a lot of friends."
