Guy E. Gates, 82, of 733 W. Turner, died at 12:08 p.m. Saturday at Cox Medical Center, after a short illness. He was born in Cass County and had lived in Springfield most of his life. Mr. Gates was a retired furniture salesman, an Army veteran of World War I and a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie; two daughters, Mrs. Leon Rader, Strafford, and Evelyn Gates, Kansas City; two sisters, Mrs. Ressie Hoover, Pleasant Hope, and Mrs. Lennie Scroggins, Springfield; and three grandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Klingner Chapel with Dr. David Cavin officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hope Cemetery.
