"Pastor and Mrs. Brill and daughter, Gloria, came to Ontario in May 1958, when he was installed as our pastor. The Lord blessed them with a son, Timothy, the following year. Pastor Brill worked actively in the congregation until his health failed in January 1960.... Rev. Brill continued to serve Second St. John's Lutheran Church of Wartburg as had his predecessor.... He was dedicated to the work of the PTR (Preaching, Teaching, Reaching) Mission undertaken by the Ontario District in 1960 and worked untiringly until ill health prevented him from active participation. After several periods of hospitalization, he was forced to seek further medical aid from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He continued to decline and died Wednesday, September 14, 1960. Funeral services were held in First St. John's Lutheran Church on Monday, September 19, 1960 and interment was made on the adjoining cemetery."
