Alice M. Chaplin, 98, of Desert Hot Springs died July 2, 2006, of natural causes. Born in 1908 to Adam Koch and Emma Koch in Sidney, Neb., she married Charles F. Chaplin in 1948 in Las Vegas. she wored at Safeway for 25 years and was retired. She was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Desert Hot Springs, the Desert Hot Springs Women's Club, the Republican Women's organization, and a charter member of the Chaparral Garden Club and Hands of the Desert.

She is survived by her sister Hazel Atchison, of Mountain Home, Ark. and several nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. A church service is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Desert Hot Springs, with burial in Desert Memorial Park, Cathedral City. Memorials are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church.
