HER PARENTS EARLY SACKETT SETTLERS
- Mrs. George Ludlum, who died recently at the home of her son George B. Ludlum, at Middletown, N. Y., was interred in the Rock Ridge Cemetery at Monticello last week. Her age was 91 years. She was born at Sackett Lake, in the Town of Thompson, in 1832. Her maiden name was Anna Jane Norris. Her parents were early settlers at Sackett Lake. At the age of 24 years she married George B. Ludlum in Monticello, Rev. Edward K. Fowler, Rector of St. John's Church, performing the ceremony. Soon after they located at Mongaup Valley, occupying the house now owned and occupied by James W. Ramsey. Mr. Ludlum ran a market wagon from Mongaup Valley to Newburgh for a number of years. He died April, 1865. Soon after she sold her place to William Gillespie and came to Monticello and later removed to Middletown, where she had lived more than 40 years.

The funeral services were held at her late residence, the home of her son, on the Sunday afternoon following her death. The funeral was private, only relatives and a few invited friends being present. Interment in the family plot at Rock Ridge Cemetery was deferred until relatives at a distance were able to be present. Stoddard and William Norris, of this town, are brothers of the deceased. She was mother of the son mentioned above, and of three daughters, Mary, Alice and Ida, two if whom are deceased, George B. and one daughter surviving her.
