Virgil R. Martin
Virgil R. Martin, 80, 4129 Children's Home Road, died Sunday at 5:45 a.m. at Wilson Memorial Hospital. He was born May 24, 1912, in Shelby County, son of Leroy and Eliza (Allen) Martin. On Oct. 14, 1933, he married the former Henrietta Couchot. She survives.
Other survivors include four children, Jane Martin of Highland Heights, Richard of Sidney, Lee Fred of Sidney, and David of Columbus; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a brother, Francis of Piqua, six sisters, Bernice Wiley of Fletcher, Virginia Verdier of Sidney, Maxine Pence of Sidney, Margery Ebberts of Vandalia, Mary Martin of Tipp City, and Mrs. Frank (Sue) Pellman of Sidney. Two brothers are deceased.
Mr. Martin, a retired farmer, had been a pilot for 12 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and Eagles Lodge, both of Sidney.
Services will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Salm-McGill & Tangeman Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Point Cemetery, Pasco.
Friends may call at the funeral home today from 5 to 8 p.m. An Elks memorial service will be held today at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Holy Angels Endowment Fund.
