She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church for the past 72 years. She was a devout Christian with an abiding faith in God. She never met a stranger and always greeted people with her sweet, friendly smile.
Her career included retirement from the Girl Scout Council of the Apalachee Bend and also from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Tallahassee, FL. She was a past member of the Big Bend Airstream Club/Florida Unit.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and camping in the smokey mountains as well as fishing on the Ochlockonee River.
She was preceeded in death in 2002 by her loving husband of 60 years, Malcolm Wilks. Also preceding her in death is her sister, Theresa Moore; her brother, Kenneth Scarbrough, Tallahassee, FL; and her beloved dog "Roxy".
She is survived by her son, Myron,and her daughter, Diane. Granddaughter, Kimberly. Grandson, Alan. Great-Granddaughters, Locklyn; Blair and Tatum, and a brother, John C. Scarbrough, a sister, Claudette and many loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Big Bend Hospice House for the wonderful environment and care they provided as well as a special thank you to Dr. Mark Wheeler of Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
