Death of Mrs. Emily L. Bangs

Aged Early Resident of Winfield Died at Home of Her Daughter, Mrs. Bret Crapster, on Menor Street.

Mrs. Emily L. Bangs died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bret Crapster on South Menor street, at four o'clock this morning, aged eighty-five years.

Mrs. Bangs took sick on last Friday evening and has been failing since that time. The cause of her death was old age. She is one of the old residents of Winfield, having lived here since 1885. Her husband Frederick A. Bangs died fifteen years ago.

Mrs. Emily L. Bangs has been a devout member of the Episcopal church for twenty-five years and has many friends in that church as well as out side of the church who will mourn her death.

Miss Emily L. Phelps was born at Stanwich, Canada, October 12, 1828. She was married at Stanwich, Canada, on September 12, 1850, to Mr. Frederick A. Bangs. In 1853 Mr. and Mrs. Bangs moved to Boston, Mass., where they lived until 1885 when they moved to Winfield. Four children were born to them, all of whom are living. They are: Mrs. R.C. Hill of Foxcroft, Maine; Frederick W. Bangs of Newark, New Jersey; Arthur C. Bangs of this city and Mrs. Bret Crapster also of this city. A sister lives at Newton, Mass. These are the only near relatives who are living at this time.

All of the children but the oldest daughter, Mrs. R.C. Hill of Foxcroft, Maine were present at the time of their mother's death.

The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at two-thirty o'clock from Grace Episcopal church, with services conducted by the Rector, Rev. C.E. Snowden. Burial will be made in Union cemetery.
