Palmer resident Mary Ellen Ansell, 87, died Sept. 6, at the Palmer Pioneer Home. A visitation was held at Kehl's Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel.

Born March 6, 1902, in Douglas County, Mo., she had been a homemaker and had lived in Alaska for 29 years. Mrs. Ansell was a past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star chapter in Fairland, Okla. She was preceded in death by her husband, John "Bus" Ansell Sr.

She is survived by her stepson, John, of Bothell, Wash.; her stepdaughter, Lois Peterson, of Encenada, Mexico; six grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren. A graveside service was held at Evergreen Washelli Memorial Park in Seattle, Wash. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Shriner's Hospital of the donor's choice.
