Funeral Set for Harry Acrea, 53

Was Prominent Farm Manager

MISSOURI VALLEY — Funeral services for Harry R. Acrea, 53, prominent farm manager who died Tuesday at his home following a heart attack, are tentatively set for Friday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church.
The Rev. P.R. O'Donnell, pastor, will be celebrant. The Hennessey-Van Cleave Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
Mr. Acrea was born on a farm east of here and was graduated from Missouri Valley High School. He farmed for several years.
He later was employed in the Federal Agricultural Adjustment Administration in Logan and was county chairman for a number of years.
He served as a director of the Harrison County Soil Conservation District. Mr. Acrea planned the Logan-Missouri Valley Country Club golf course about 1950.
In 1951 he opened a Skelgas appliance store and operated it until last spring when he sold the business.

"Ag" Teacher
Mr. Acrea taught agriculture to ex-servicemen under the GI farm training program. His work took him to schools in Mondamin and Woodbine.
For several years he was a real estate broker here and was a farm manager at the time of his death.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Anna Acrea; two daughters, Mrs. Eldon Rashleigh of Missouri Valley and Miss Shirley Ann Acrea of Santa Monica, Calif.; three sons, John, a student at Loras College in Dubuque, and Mark M. and Harry J., both at home; his mother, Mrs. Mark Acrea of Missouri Hollow, two brothers, attorney Kenneth Acrea and Stanley Acrea, both of Missouri Valley; and two granddaughters.
