Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with military rites accorded by Orion American Legion Post 255. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church, American Legion Post 255 or Orion Booster Club.
Franklyn was born June 1, 1927, in Yankton, S.D., son of Franklyn Craig Sr. and Elvera Irene Pangborn Lewis. He married Elaine Ruth Wells May 6, 1961, in Union Lake, Mich.
Franklyn worked as a meteorologist for the U.S. Weather Service, with the U.S. government and was a substitute bus driver for the Orion School District.
Franklyn was a Navy veteran during World War II for three years, Army National Guard for two years and in the Air Force for 22 years.
Frank was a member of DAV, 40 and 8, Orion Lions Club, Orion VFW Post 143 and Orion Booster Club. He was also a member, adjutant and past commander of Orion American Legion Post 255. Frank was also a member of Edgewood Baptist Church and an usher.
He called bingo for more than 25 years at the American Legion Hall and was an announcer at wrestling matches and halftime at the football games in Orion.
Survivors (and spouses) include his wife; daughter, Susan (Matthew) Ticer, Charleston, S.C.; son, Bill (Jeanne) Lewis, Milan; grandchildren, Seth Lewis, Matthew Ticer and Emily Lewis; and cousins, Dan Neville, Mary Jane O'Dell and Lewis Neville.
