As a young girl, she was at home on her father's farm helping with the housework, family care and livestock chores, for she was the oldest daughter in the family. Later
she had a position as a housemaid for a Mr & Mrs W. Taylor, the Registrar of Deeds of Steele County; Owatonna, MN and for a Mr & Mrs Paul Strand and Mr & Mrs Verplank, a farmer living near near Richland, where she was a nurse, baby sitter and did general housework.

In 1958 Caroline was honored by Minnesota Governor Orville Freeman as a centennial Pioneer at age 94 years.
