Funeral services for Elijah "Lige" E. Bowman, 63, were held Sunday in the chapel of Hooper and Huddleston Funeral Home.
Arkley Billingsley and Hulon Hensley officiated and burial was in Crest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Bowman, a resident of the Double Springs Community, died Friday in the Cookeville General Hospital following an extended illness.
A native of Jackson County, he was the son of Mrs. Emma Jane Netherton Bowman of Gainesboro, who survives, and the late Richard M. Bowman. He was the owner of Bowman Construction Co. for a number of years.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his widow, Mrs. Jamie Loftis Bowman, son, Jack Bowman, Baxter, Rt. 1; 7 sisters, Mrs. Nathan Johnson, Mrs. Ora Trisdale, Mrs. Addie Way, Mrs. Oakley Johnson, all of Gainesboro, Mrs. Edna Ellis, Detroit, MI, Mrs. Verble Burgess, Baxter, Mrs. Garrett Craighead, Gainesboro; 3 brothers, Ed, Deamer, Joe, and George Bowman of Gainesboro and Jess Bowman, Rt.. 1,
Baxter, and a grandchild.
