Vida Leota Myers, 77, of 715 W. Pierce, died at 8:35 Tuesday night in a Kirksville hospital where she had been a patient since Oct. 9. She had been in failing health the past two years.
Born March 26, 1891 in Macon county, she was the daughter of William and Nancy Harriet (McCarty) Emmons. She was married to Frank Wimber who preceded her in death in 1953. Later she was married to Floyd Myers who preceded her in death in 1966. Also preceding her in death were one son, Robert Wimber, who was killed in Alaska during World War II, two sisters and one brother.
Surviving are one son, Jack L. Wimber of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Norman (Betty) Weber of DeWitt, Ia., and Mrs. Llewellyn (Geraldine) Johnston of Los Alamos, N. Mex.; two sister[s], Josie Lynch of El Monte, Calif., and Della Miller of 709 E. Pierce; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Myers had spent most of her life in Kirksville where she was a member of the Hamilton Street Baptist Church.
The body will be at the funeral home of Davis & Davis after two o'clock Thursday afternoon. Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10:30 in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Ernest Deatrick, pastor of the Hamilton Street Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Highland Park cemetery.
