Monsignor Stephen A. Bielen was the son of Albert and Winefred Bielen. He was ordained on March 17, 1945. His first assignment was at Sacred Heart Church in Trenton. He then served at St. Joseph's in North Plainfield, at St. Stanislaus Kostka in Sayerville, at Sacred Heart in South Amboy, at St. Stephen in Perth Amboy, and at St. Hedwig in Trenton. Then Monsignor Bielen was appointed pastor at St. Catherine in Farmingdale in June 1962, until he was appointed pastor of the Church of the Assumption in Hackettstown, New Jersey from 1968 until 1997 when he retired.
