Services will be held 2 p.m. Sat. at Armstrong Funeral Home in Mapleton, with the Rev. Kurt Seboe officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Mapleton. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Alida Margaret was born 22 July 1922, in Rodville, Saskatchewan, Canada, the daughter of Parry & Margaret (Londamist) Bergersen. She grew up & was educated in Canada.
On 19 Feb. 1930 she married Stanley Engstrom in Sioux City, Iowa. They moved to Sioux City in 1951, to Hub, SD. in 1955 & then returned to Sioux City. In 1966 after retirement, they moved to Mapleton. Stanley died 27 June 1982.
Survivors left to honor her memory include a daughter, Marilyn Thompson of Mapleton; 5 grandchildren, Chuck (Deb) Anderson of Waterloo, IA., Tim (Teri) Anderson of Globe, AZ., Jim (Tina) Anderson of Whiting, IA., Teresa (Dave) Bartels of Moorhead, IA. & Brian Anderson of Lemars, IA.; 5 great grandchildren & 5 great-great grandchildren.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Eldon in Nov. 1953; a grandson, Tony Anderson in 1960; 2 brothers & 3 sisters.
