---Vernon K. Brown, 56, of rural Kirksville, passed away Friday (October 10, 1997) at the family farm east of Millard.
---The son of Emmett and Kathryn Cooper Brown, he was born December 23, 1940 in Adair County. On November 20, 1960 in Millard, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Love who survives. Also surviving are his parents of Kirksville; one brother, Ricky Brown and his wife Denise of Gibbs; one sister, Marjorie Collins and her husband Mervin of rural Novinger and a niece, Christiana Brown of Gibbs. Other survivors include uncles, aunts and cousins.
---He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
---Vernon attended the Prairie Bird rural school and graduated from the Kirksville High School in 1958.
---He farmed east of Millard for thirty-seven years.
---Vernon was baptized in 1960, becoming a member of the Southside Baptist Church of Kirksville. Recently he and his wife had attended the La Plata Baptist Church.
---Funeral services were held at two o'clock Sunday (October 12, 1997) at the Travis-Now Funeral Home in Kirksville. Pastor James Morgan officiated the services. Music was provided by Dianthe Cable, organist and Carlyle Walker, soloist. Selections were "Amazing Grace", "What A Day That Will Be" and "Moment By Moment". Burial was held at the Green Castle Cemetery in Green Castle, Missouri.
---Pallbearers were Laverne Gerhold, Doug Clarkson, Gary Coy, Richard Gregory, Justin Graham and Dennis Garlock.
