Oscar Acciavatti, 24, of 355 West Packard street died at 12:15 a.m. yesterday in St. Mary's hospital following a month's illness.He was born Oct. 18, 1919, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Terzino Acciavatti.
After two and a half years in the 97th mess squadron of the air corps, he was medically discharged with the rank of Staff Sergeant, Jan. 12, 1944. Previous to his army service he was a baker for Vanzetti's bakery and more recently had been employed at the post office. He was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic church.
Mr. Acciavatti is survived by his parents and wife, the former Margaret Mary Cooper, whom he married in November 1942. He also leaves a brother, Gino and twin sisters, Rosetta and Ginetta, all of Decatur.
The body was taken to J.J. Moran & Sons' Funeral home where friends may call after noon Sunday. He will be accorded full military honors in Calvary cemetery.
