Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb 1, at 1 p.m. from the Bartlett Funeral Home in Grafton for James W. Taylor, 53, a resident of Route 4, Grafton, Valley Falls Road, who died unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 28, at 10:45 p.m. in the Grafton City Hospital. He had been ill for eight years. The Rev. William W. Daugherty officiated and interment was in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Preston County.
Mr. Taylor was born in Preston County April 19, 1914, a son of the late John Oliver and Mary Arnold Taylor. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nellie (Taylor) Taylor; three daughters, Mrs Mildred Spangler of Morgantown, Mrs Alva (Pauline)Stevens of Grafton and Mrs. Darrell (Leona) Dawson of Crete, Greece; three sons, John E. Taylor with the U.S. Navy at Orange Park, Fla., Richard Taylor and James W. Taylor at home.
Other survivors include four sisters, Mrs. Blanche Saylor of Mt. Morris, Pa., Mrs Edith Bunnell of Wilsonburg, Mrs. Dorcas Blaney of Masontown and Mrs. Mary Rogers of Cleveland, O.; and five grandchildren. One son, Donald, and two brothers, Elza and Joseph, are deceased.
Mr. Taylor was a member of the Rose Hill Methodist Church and was an engineer for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad with 17 years service. He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the VFW Memorial City Post 3081.
