DIES AT VETERANS HOSPITAL

KINGSTREE, S.C., Oct 21
John Hubert Utley, 42, died at the Veterans Hospital in Columbia Friday morning after a short illness. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Tisdale cemetery in the Central community with the Rev E. W. Cantrell of the Kingstree Baptist church officiating, assisted by the Rev John W. Davis of the Williamsburg Presbyterian church.

Mr Utley was a son of Mrs Lillian Turner Utley of Columbia and the late Dr E. B. Utley of Marion. Prior to coming to Kingstree last year to manage a service station on the Andrews highway, he had made his home in Wadesboro, N. C.

He was twice married, his first wife having been Miss Odell Craven of Marion. Of this union three daughters survive as follows: Miss Lois Jean Utley, Miss Miriam Utley, Miss Lillian Utley, all of Marion. His widow, who survives, was formerly Miss Lilly Brown of the Central community. He also leaves his mother, Mrs Lillian Turner Utley of Columbia; a brother, E. B. Utley and a sister, Mrs Ronald Waters of Columbia. He was a member of the Baptist church.

John Hubert Utley, 42, died at the Veterans Hospital in Columbia Friday morning after a short illness.
