Beloved son of Charles Allen Freeman and Rutha Ann Hooker Freeman. He was the husband of Beatrice Ann E.W. Bowers whom he married Nov 8, 1854. Their children were James S. Freeman 1855–1865; Infant Son Freeman 1857–1857; Infant Daughter Freeman 1858–1858; Margaret A. Freeman 1859–1936; Martha D. Freeman born in 1863; John Allen Freeman 1865–1931; Sn William Athe Freeman 1868–1942; Benjamin Edward Freeman 1871–1932; Laura Frances Freeman 1874–1938; David Major Freeman 1876–1949; and Spence Bransford Freeman 1881–1957.

According to Roy B. Freeman, Davis Allen Freeman requested to be buried where the former pulpit stood in Presbyterian Church at the Amos Cemetery.
