October 5, 1916
"By not having the desired information, the writer was sadly compelled to delay the writing of this item until the present time. On August 8, 1916 the angel of death called at the earthly home of John Gipson, deceased, and carried to a Heavenly home one of the inmates, the mother, Susan A. Gipson, who was born Dec. 22, 1839, making her 76 years and 6 months of age. She had been in bad health for a number of years, but not confined to her bed but a very short time. God gave her strength to administer the necessities of life to her two invalid children. Mrs. Gipson had never fully recovered from the shock received by the sudden death of her son, Jobe, who was drowned in December, 1915. Her husband preceded her to the grave several years. She leaves to mourn her loss six children, five sons and one daughter. Those who will miss her the most are the two invalids, John, Jr. and Amanda who are at home.
