DELTA--LaVon Maurine Wilcox Taylor, age 82, died December 20, 1996 at Provo.
Born June 8, 1914 at Ogden to Howard Oscar and Edith Margaret Farrow Wilcox. Married Herbert Lionel Taylor December 20, 1934 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Graduated from Delta High School and Excellesus Beauty College. She moved with her family from Ogden to Canada and Sutherland area. She was actively involved in the community and LDS Church. She served in many positions including stake and ward Relief Society President, stake Scouting Director and was first in Deseret District and third in Utah National Parks Council to be awarded "Silver Fawn". She spent 2 1/2 years in Nauvoo Mission with her husband. They served as temple workers in the Provo Temple and Manti Temple. She was also the West Millard Care Center program director.
Survived by husband Lionel, Delta; sons and daughters: Ila Rae Stephenson, Las Vegas, Nevada; Bruce (Margaret) Taylor, David (Sonya) Taylor, Judy Hoelzle, all of Delta; Jean Black, Taylorsville; Sherri (Mitch) Terrell, Price; 30 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; sister: Marvel Clayton and Cleone Tolbert, both of Sutherland. Preceded in death by her sister Eleanor Murray; son-in-law A. Ray Stephenson.
Funeral services will be Monday December 23, 1996, 11 a.m., Delta 3rd Ward LDS Chapel. Friends may call at Nickle Mortuary, 190 South Center, Delta, Sunday 7-8 p.m. and at church Monday 10-10:45 a.m.. Burial: Delta Cemetery.
