Killed in Action near Haman, South Korea on 21 Aug 1950 while serving with Company C, 24th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. Jack joined the Army on 26 Jun 1946 and was discharged as a Private First Class on 18 Nov 1947. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the Rifle Marksman Badge. Jack enlisted into the Army Reserve on 19 Nov 1947 and entered active duty on 16 Jun 1950. He was killed two months later.
On Wednesday, 20 Sept 1950 The Anderson Herald states, "Young Farley was the first colored man from this city killed in the conflict."
Jack attended Anderson High School where he was in the "A" Club, played football, baseball and ran track. He graduated in 1946.
Jack's awards include the Purple Heart, World War II Victory Medal, National Defence Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Korea Service Medal, Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Infantryman Badge and Rifle Marksman Badge.
