Born Aug. 9, 1934, in Elizabeth City County, Betty was a native of Phoebus and life long resident of Hampton. She retired after 18 years from J.C. Penny and New Market. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 48.
Betty leaves to cherish her memory the following family members, daughter, Sharon L. O'Keefe and husband, Robert; son, Johnny Hogg; grandsons, Rob O'Keefe and Heather Boyko, Shawn O'Keefe and Joseph Hogg; granddaughters, Miranda Hogg, Samantha Hogg, Brittany Hogg, Stacy Bierbauer and Katie Hogg; great-grandsons, Michael, Mark and Christopher O'Keefe; brother, Edward Herb; and nephews and nieces.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home in downtown Hampton. A Christian celebration of life will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. Family and friends are invited to gather after the services at the American Legion Phoebus Post 48, 221 SE. Melon St.
