A native of Noble County, Mr. Rutherford taught school at Norwich and New Concord. He was a graduate of Muskingum College and at the time of his death was a teacher at a high school in Akron.
He was a son of Hiram and Etta Rutherford.
Surviving are his widow, Iceie, a daughter, Mrs. Vera Russell of California; three sisters, Mrs. Chloe Bozman Parsons of Seborn avenue, Mrs. Blanche Devoe of McConnelsville and Mrs. Mae Racey of Sharon, O., and aunt, Mrs. Ethel Archer of Mead street; two uncles, Cliff Archer of Dresden and Ford Archer, Summerfield, and five grandchildren.
The body will be taken to the McVay Funeral Home at Caldwell where friends may call after 10 a.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday with burial in Olive Cemetery.
