Dr. George I. Vetter, 65, a life-long resident of Niles and a dentist here for 25 years, died at noon Sunday in Pawating hospital where he was admitted at 9:35 a.m. that morning. He had been ill for 18 years.
Private funeral services will be held from the Kiger funeral home Tuesday at 3 p.m., with the Rev. T.M. Greenhoe, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.
Survivors are: his mother, Mrs. Fred Vetter, of Niles; his wife, Kathryn, also of Niles; three sons, Thomas of Rochester, NY, John of Galesburg, and Alan at home; a sister, Mrs. Iva Weaver, of Niles; and four grandchildren.
Dr. Vetter was born in Niles on March 29, 1887.
He married Kathryn Schmidt in this city on October 12, 1922.
A graduate of the Niles High School in 1907 and of the University of Michigan in 1910, Dr. Vetter carried on a dental practice until illness forced him to retire in 1934. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Lodge, and the Psi Omega Dental fraternity.
The family asked that flowers be omitted.
