Abby Dwight Hedges was the first wife of Capt. Hiram B. Hedges. Abby and Capt. Hedges were married in Plattsburg, NY after a 6 week courtship. Abby was a teacher from Plattsburg who died of consumption at the age of 22. By 1860 Capt. Hedges was in Multnomah Co., Oregon living on a farm near Portland with his second wife Mary. Capt.
