Walter C. Ziemer, 87, De Pere, formerly of Lark and Denmark, died Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at Rennes Health Care Center where he had been a resident since January of 2003. Walter was born January 26, 1918, in Oconomowoc, Wis., and adopted by the late Hugo and Adella (Fischer) Ziemer shortly thereafter. They preceded him in death in 1963 and 1976, respectively. Walter graduated from De Pere High School in 1936.

He married Iris Schneider on August 26, 1944, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Lark, where Walter was a lifelong member. Walter farmed in the Town of Morrison until 1973 when they moved to Denmark. He also worked at Lake to Lake Dairy in Denmark and was a prize winning butter maker. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, board games, putting together jigsaw puzzles and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed writing stories about his thoughts and experiences.

Walter is survived by his wife, Iris; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Don England, De Pere, and Kristine and Joel Bastian, Sheboygan; two grandchildren, Paul England, Waukegan, Ill., and Tori England, Chicago, Ill.; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Eunice and Gerald Bruegge, Morrison; foster granddaughter, Michelle Heck; and foster great-grandson, B.J., both of Sheboygan, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Walter was preceded in death by a daughter, Suzanne; an infant son; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ervin and Norma Kuchenbecker and Rayfield and Adeline Schneider.

Friends my call after 2 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2005, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Lark, until time of service. Funeral service 4 p.m. at the church with Pastor Rosy Mayorga officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
