Robert was the son of Massengill Birx Combs and Annie Williams. The Robert W. Combs School at Happy, Ky was named for him. "Black Bob" Robert had three wives. Married 1) Jane Brewer. He and Jane had six children:

1. Annie Combs Stacy b 1897
2. Beatrice Combs b 1899
3. Alma Combs b 1900
4. Van B. Combs b 1901
5. Carley Combs b 1901
6. Lester Combs b 1903
7. C. Dilce Combs b 1904

He married 2) Ella Jane Sumner. Their children were:

1. Edd Jouett Combs b 1911
2. Farmer Eversole Combs b 1915
3. Leonard Combs b 1919
4. Robert Combs Jr b 1920
5. Charles Luttrell Combs

He married 3) Icey Seiber Combs, and they had the following child:

1. Chris Combs b 1935

There were seven children by each marriage, one of whom was Annie COMBS Stacy, b Feb 8 1896, died July 22, 1980. She was the mother of my wife, Wanda Lee STACY Brown. The Robert W. Combs School at Happy, Ky was named for him. Another of his children was C. Dilce Combs for whom the C. Dilce Combs School at Jeff, Ky was named.
